Terrorists

What is Terrorism? What is a Terrorist? Terrorism is a tactic. The label, "terrorist," doesn't tell you who or what anyone is, it tells you what they do.

Christopher Columbus was a terrorist. Ulysses S. Grant was a terrorist. Andrew Jackson was a terrorist. The Israelis are terrorists. I don't understand all this talk about terrorists in our media. It is assumed that they are talking about jihadists or insurgents in Iraq when they use this term. But it isn't clear at all, when one thinks logically about it.

Eric Alterman recently said that the current "War on Terror" is bogus because, well, it would be like if after Pearl Harbor, FDR had called for a "War Against Sneak Attacks." He didn't. What FDR did say was that we had nothing to fear.

A "War Against Terror" is impossible. And unwinnable. It's mere rhetoric. You can't declare war against a tactic. An act of terror is an indescriminant act of war which targets civilians. Does anyone really think that desperate people whom hate the US will simply stop doing it? It's obvious all the US needs to do is to act more logically and modestly in the world in order to fight terror.
