An Unspoiler for Governor
In this morning's New York Times is an article about the Pennsylvania governor's race.
A Pennsylvania Spoiler Joins Race for Governor
It's of course wonderful that the people of Pennsylvania have a choice beyond big money business-as-usual. But the PACleanSweep candidate is anything but a "spoiler."
The article paints a positive picture of Russ Diamond, but the use of the "spoiler" term, in the headline and throughout the article, paints him as an outsider, and looks at him thru a status quo lens.
The media are all too eager to perpetuate the same old views. A spoiled race is a race with two similar big money candidates. An unspoiled race has several excellent candidates whom all have a chance of winning.
This guy is an unspoiler, not a spoiler.
