Divisiveness

We hear a great deal about political divisiveness in our country these days, and even likely experience it on in our everyday lives.

But I'm convinced that the real divide is not between party lines or political ideologies. It's between those that think about things and those that don't. Logic and foolishness, if you will. Being informed, … and being uninformed. Being able to explain why you think what you do, or not. And both of these things exist on both sides of the fence. Let's be logical. Hatred, lying, cheating: both parties do it.

"All you libs" ... Is ridiculous. So is "all you repugs are morons." All it attempts to do is "validate" ones position by ridiculing or dismissing the opposition. It was ruled out as a suitable position thousands of years ago.

Unfortunately, those that remain uninformed are a vast majority. And they are the ones that, of course, influence the outcomes of elections like the one we have here.

The great "they" are the other side of the divide. Let's be honest, the real danger, the thing that threatens our way of life, are not people that disagree with us. The dangerous thing is a great big group of millions of people, who have no idea what's going on, and who will latch on to the latest wave of popular whatever, be it left or right. This is what scares me.

Think about it ... Nazism. Other "isms". Folks will try to paint "liberalism" ... or "conservatism" this way, but it just isn't true. It isn't even the philosophy that's dangerous, ... Um, usually. Well, ok, extreme versions of liberal/conservative are dangerous.

But the thing that is really dangerous, is a gullible, deceived, mass ... And they're everywhere. And depending on who or what they're turned by, they could be anything.

Ignorance is the enemy. Just some thoughts.
